Life’s Essentials is a UK charity established in February 2007;
Its fundamental premise
is that, in this day and age ...
“... no-one in this world should be without the basic essentials of life.”
Our work is currently focused towards the people of Sri Lanka, particularly children and their well-being and education. Many are suffering the effects of poverty, civil strife and the 2004 tsunami...
Around 18,000 Sri Lankans are still homeless due to the tsunami of December 2004, over five years later!
Over 350,000 people in the North East of Sri Lanka were made homeless as a result the 30-year civil war that ended in 2009. Although the majority have now been re-homed, over 80,000 are believed to be still in temporary accommodation!
